Many of our clients say to us: “we want the small cute sink that goes in the island.” But not all “small cute sinks” are right for the homeowner. We try to balance, as designers, what is right for the homeowner logistically (durability, functionality, longevity) with the homeowner’s idea of visual appeal. This can often be very challenging even for a trained interior designer. But more so, homeowners who have no training in selecting the right sink may get home only to find that their product isn’t suited to their needs. Another designer came to the conclusion that we should compare our buying process to a recently purchased item. A recent client installed an oversized island and needed two sinks. Are we really asking for too much? We wanted an apron front sink, reminiscent of the farmhouse style that has remained popular since it’s origination in Italy. We wanted a contemporary twist that would work for our modern, contemporary, or minimalistic clients. We wanted state of the art manufacturing and materials. We finally found the sink our clients and we were searching for, and simply had to do a formal review of the item. We ended our search with none other than one of the leading kitchen and bath manufacturers globally, Kohler. The Kohler Verity Apron-Front Undercounter Kitchen Sink K-3086 provided everything our clients asked us for, and more. Three of our staff members were looking for a product for three similar design projects. When one of us found this Kohler beauty, it was done deal for all three clients. Of course the clients, homeowners, fell in love with the look, as did we. But as designers, we know to look for things that homeowners often place in the back of their mind.
