Kitchen Cabinetry – Don’t Be Afraid of Natural Colors

Kitchen CabinetryA kitchen doesn’t need to be bland and simple but rather bold and functional. So, why not select the most significant feature of your kitchen and build up from there you for your next remodeling project? Cabinetry is always a great place to start, as these usually tend to be the focus of attention for many kitchens. And when using strong, earthy and natural colors, the easier it will be to combine each and every element that make up you kitchen design.

For example, cabinetry made with deep and rich cherry wood, which most often will be built into traditional designs (tall and squared corners with moldings and brass hardware), will work perfectly with granite or marble flooring and countertops. Keep colors in the same family and don’t go too dark with your countertops. Experts recommend that no other element of the kitchen should be darker than your most significant feature, which in this case would be the furniture. So, in this case, the deep cherry tones of our cabinetry should be the starting point when selecting the correct palate for your floors and walls and other accessories.

When selecting your countertops, pick those that have a contrasting pattern. Each natural element of your kitchen has a unique pattern: wood has rings and granite or marble have crystals that when cut in a specific way, will create patterns that will go well with everything else in your kitchen.

Try to marry your backsplash with your countertop to maintain a seamless and concise look; you don’t want to separate each element but rather smooth the lines of separation away so that there is an overall personality that your kitchen must maintain. In other words, you don’t want chaos in your kitchen but rather order.

Having a separation of contrasts and colors between the walls and backsplash and the your top and bottom cabinets, give the chance to repeat the pattern one again but with your floors. In our case, we selected stone tiles with colors that match both the furniture and the countertops, sort of to summarizing all the elements of your kitchen, bringing it together to be displayed without overpowering the overall look of your design.

For the tiles we chose a more modern look with a wave print, which nicely contrast with the traditional looks of the cabinetry. And we went a step further and picked solid stainless steel appliances such as the dishwasher, the stove, the microwave and the sink and faucet, finally closing the circle of our design. For the ceiling we recommend a lighter color to contrast with the moldings of your top cabinets.
